European Heritage Days 2019

Visit the only soap factory in Marseille listed as a historic monument.

The European Heritage Days will revolve around Arts and Entertainment for this 36th edition in 2019. La Savonnerie Fer à Cheval, recently listed as a historic monument like the Château d'IF, the Cité radieuse or Fort Saint Jean , will open its workshops to the public and will prepare many surprises for this occasion.

Our soap factory, the oldest soap factory in Marseille still in operation, will reveal its molding workshop to its visitors on Saturday September 21 and Sunday September 22, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Young and old will be able to discover the secrets of molding while visiting this place steeped in history and having fun with DIY (Do It Yourself) workshops to prepare their own laundry detergent or exfoliating soap!

AN ANCESTRAL MANUFACTURING

Visitors will be able to discover the secrets of molding, and enter the molding workshop to observe the mechanical drying of the soap paste, then the manufacturing of the raw material called soap bonds, which will take the form of the mythical cube of soap. Fer à Cheval is joining forces this year with the Green Flamants, to entertain young and old and offers its visitors the opportunity to participate in zero-waste Do It Yourself mini-workshops. On the program: recipes to maintain your home, pamper your family, and make your own multi-use spray, laundry detergent, shower gel or even exfoliating soap. All based on Marseille Fer à Cheval Soap composed of 100% ingredients of natural origin of course! Fun, creative, manual workshops where each recipe is customizable.

Between two activities, you can enjoy a game of pétanque on the Boule Bleue grounds or take part in a stamping workshop to personalize your Marseille soap.
