En 1850, une fabrique de bougies s’installe au milieu de la campagne marseillaise. C'est en 1856 qu'une partie de la Manufacture de bougie est transformée en véritable Savonnerie. La marque Fer à Cheval est créée.

In 1900, the Fer à Cheval soap factory moved to the capital and won the gold medal at the Universal Exhibition in Paris for the quality of its soaps. In 1953, the brand merged between the Antonin ROUX Oil Mills and the J.B Paul Soap Factory to become the Fer à Cheval brand: this was the beginning of a lucky adventure.

Nearly twenty years later, in 1974, the Salvador group bought Savonnerie Marseillaise and for many years manufactured the famous Le Chat Marseille Soap.

In 2003, a new owner took over the Fer à Cheval brand: the Compagnie des Détergents et du Savon de Marseille, a group whose objective is to continue to perpetuate this traditional soap recipe.

It was 10 years later, when the Fer à Cheval brand was bought by the Seghin family, that it was once again revealed to the public. It is developing in France and internationally and proudly carries the colors of Marseille's emblematic product, its authentic soap made in cauldrons.
